Brigade rides high on acquisitions

Hyderabad: Third-party BPO solutions provided Brigade Corp is on an acquisition spree. The Chicago-headquartered company has recently acquired a city-based BPO unit Webhelp Global Services in an all-cash deal, Brigade chairman and CEO Sri Dasari told reporter here on Thursday.

Brigade already has two BPO facilities, one each in Chennai and Hyderabad. The acquisition of Webhelps will help Brigade expand its presence in the BPO space, Dasari said. While the company has increased its headcount to 1,400 employees, in terms of services the merger would facilitate Brigade’s entry into horizontal such as tech support, customer services and sales support, he said. “Webhelp is basically into verticals which are in line with our focus. The merger was a strategic decision and it would help scale up our operations in a big way,” Dasari observed.

The $80-million company expects its revenue in Indian operations to touch $30 million this financial. Meanwhile, the company has drawn up plans to add 400 people every quarter in view of the increase in its clientele following the merger. “Committed business from existing clients would required us to add 500 people in the next quarter to the existing 1,400. The goal is to increase beyond 3,000 people in 2005,” Dasari said.

The company is planning to invest Rs 21 Crore in Hyderabad for crating 1,50,000 sq ft office space. The company’s next acquisition would most likely be in Philippines as clients in US appreciate doing business with BPO companies in the far East, he said.
